Countable nouns are words for things we can count and see separately:
one cup
two friends
a party
one dollar
four boys
a chair
They can be singular or plural.
We are having a friend join us.
En vän kommer att vara med oss.
Uncountable nouns are words for things we do not count or see separately:
money
coffee
time
music
information
paper
In English you do not use the articles A/An in front of uncountable nouns.
Uncountable nouns are not used in the plural form (i.e. a lot
of money, NOT moneys).
We ate rice for dinner.
Vi åt ris till middag.
Before uncountable nouns and plural nouns you can use some or any.
I need some information.
We need some more chairs.
Use any in questions and negative sentences.
Do you have any money?
No, I don't have any.
Use some in questions when you offer something.
Would you like some more coffee?
